Intolerance
Here's some Christmas cheer:
I try to live as a tolerant person. I'm helped in that by the fact that I'm pretty good at seeing things from other peoples' point of view. As a result, while there are many people I disagree with on lots of things, I usually don't hate them and wish they'd disappear. But, if there's one group of people of whom I am unapologetically intolerant, it's people like this. What bugs the hell out of me is this turning personal misfortune into hatred of the federal government, which in reality probably has the least to do with what's wrong in the person's life ... far less than, say, Wall Street greed, corporate corruption, and the culture of consumption. I mean, this guy's as upset at the loss of his "beloved truck" as he is at the loss of his son? The man's probable mental illness, and the fact that he clearly is on the losing end of the capitalist game, should make me feel some sympathy for him, but I don't. I am truly sick of these misguided, violent losers who always seem to be at the heart of shooting sprees, hostage-takings, and "tense standoffs" in public places. Them, and the other kind of loser-guy ... the ones who somehow become righteously and violently indignant at women who are insensitive enough to look pretty and NOT be in love with them! To borrow a phrase, to hell with all y'all.
Merry Christmas.
